Starbucks & Burger King’s Phenomenons

New PHENOMENONS in Helsinki!

It is not about snow which is not coming in the Christmas, or worried about the dark of the winter. But, yup, it is all about Starbucks and Burger Kings.

After the airport’s opening hit in 2012, Starbucks opened its second shop in the center of Helsinki, Stockmann Akateeminen Bookstore on 13 November 2013. Amazingly, like the first shop, people still voluntarily get in a queue until now to get 1 cup of Starbucks coffee or its frappucino. People are ready to stand up in the line or stand up enjoying their coffee if they don’t get tables and seats (Photo 1). Not only the coffee are sold out, but also Starbucks souvenirs like cups or water bottles.

This phenomenon was followed by the opening back of Burger King on 13 December 2013 in Mannerheimintie. Even rain can’t stop the customers to have a bite of Burger King!

As seen in the both shops, the most visitors coming to Starbucks and Burger King are teenagers. Trend of Starbucks and Burger King perhaps is influenced by USA TV series and movies which makes us, the coffee-lovers, seem really cool like Carrie Bradshow or Samantha Jones. Or, maybe, people are waiting and craving long enough to have a cup of Starbucks in their hands?

I don’t know. Perhaps, you can decide what the reason is ..

I got my first Starbucks last Saturday (Yes, I know it’s been quite a while but I really hate on queue!). Have you gotten your first Starbucks or Burger King?

Sex and the City Quotes:

“Carrie: I used to think those people who sat alone at Starbucks writing on their laptops were pretentious posers.”
